PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Emerging Leaders Advisory Committee increases membership and active participation of Emerging Leaders, defined as those under forty (40) or have been working in the risk and insurance field less than (10) years, in the CPCU Society.  Increasing Society involvement of this demographic contributes to long term sustainability of the Society by providing connections, experiences and opportunities which invest participants in the future of the organization.  Review the full committee charter

DELIVERABLES:

  • Encourage and facilitate Emerging Leaders participation across all aspects of the Society including chapters, programs and networking, by advising the Leadership Council, working committees and interest groups on the best channels, formats and offerings of most interest to Emerging Leaders;
  • Develop recommendations, based on research and experience, for a Society-wide strategy to recruit and retain Emerging Leaders members and volunteers in the CPCU Society;
  • Inventory the Society’s current suite of products, programs and services. Make recommendations to enhance or improve the appeal to Emerging Leaders;
  • Coordinate with the volunteer committee to outline a plan to transition student members to professional Society membership;
  • Advise staff and leadership on the types of programs, formats, topics that appeal most to Emerging Leaders;
  • Provide constructive and actionable feedback on the Society’s current Emerging Leaders offerings;
  • Recommend measures and KPI’s to evaluate successful engagement;
  • Collect, collate and publicize best practices from chapters and interest groups for getting Emerging Leaders involved in the Society; and
  • Make recommendations for onboarding materials to welcome and familiarize emerging leaders with the Society

ACCOUNTABILITY AND TERMS:

  • The Emerging Leaders Advisory Committee reports to the Leadership Council;
  • Committee members meet virtually at least eight (8) times per year and in person at the In2Risk Conference and Leadership Summit. The committee may also conduct some of its business by e-mail; and
  • For succession planning, committee members are responsible for identifying qualified successors who are diverse and a good fit for the committee’s purpose and goals.
  • The member term will be two years. At the discretion of the Chair, a Committee member may have the option to maintain this position for an additional one year term if all responsibilities have been met and s/he fulfills the needs of the Committee. No member will serve more than four consecutive years
