Join us for Part 2 of a two-part webinar series organized by the Student Action Committee focused on helping recent graduates find success after graduation. In Part 2, we will hear from three industry leaders with experience onboarding recent graduates. They will provide insight on how to set new hires up for success, especially those who are brand new to the workforce. Our panelists will discuss what they have learned in their experience onboarding recent graduates, challenges they have overcome, how to make new hires feel included, and how to set them up for a rewarding career in the insurance industry.

Lauren Ascenzi is the Onboarding Supervisor in NJM’s Personal Lines Department. She has worked in the industry over 9 years, beginning as a licensed representative and progressing to underwriting and supervising. She has been instrumental in developing and overseeing the new hire training program. Lauren received her CPCU in 2018 and maintains several additional designations. She is a certified Pre-Licensing instructor in the state of New Jersey. She is a Member at Large for the Central New Jersey CPCU chapter and a volunteer for the Society’s Emerging Leaders committee.

Traci Adedeji is the incoming 2024 President and Chair of The Institutes’ CPCU Society and works as a Vice-President at JP West, Inc where she heads the firm’s personal and small commercial lines insurance operations. Her insurance career began in 1984, and her experience includes leadership roles with several national carriers. Her professional affiliations include membership in the Society for Insurance Trainers & Educators (SITE) and the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) – Boston chapter where she serves as a board member. In addition to CPCU, Traci holds the Institutes’ ARM, API, and AIDA. designations, and IRMI’s TRIP designation.
As a community leader, Traci currently serves as board president of New England Basecamp, a non-profit organization that provides support and professional development to educators. She is a Clifton Strengths coach for Leadership Rhode Island, a mentor for the Rhode Island Black Business Association’s LEAP program, and a Program Advisor for the Women in Leadership program at the University of Vermont’s Grossman School of Business. Traci studied at Rutgers University in Newark, NJ and Franklin University in Columbus, OH, and is a proud graduate and class spokesperson of the Leadership Rhode Island 2021 Rho II class. She was recently selected to participate in the third cohort of the Rhode Island Foundation’s highly competitive Equity Leadership Initiative and currently resides in East Providence, RI.

Grover started as an underwriter and rose to VP, Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer of a multi-billion dollar international insurance organization. He is currently a consulting actuary. He has onboarded countless new graduates and experienced staff over his five decades in the industry. He has been the editor-in-chief of The Actuarial Review, The Casualty Actuarial Society’s news magazine, since 2010. His articles in the Actuarial Review: Advice for New Graduates, Part 1, and Part 2, appeared in the May 2013 and July 2013 editions, respectively. “We have a new Team Member” appeared in the November 2022 edition.
