  • 1.  Is anyone extending their stay in New Orleans?

    Hi everyone!

    I'm so excited to see so many of you at In2Risk this November! I've started planning my trip to New Orleans and outside of conference activities, I'm looking forward to:

    • Live music on Frenchmen Street
    • Beignets from Cafe du Monde 
    • Gumbo! (We hear the Gumbo Shop is a long-standing favorite, winning awards for its gumbo. But if anyone else has recommendations, let us know!)
    • CPCUs On the Run in NOLA!!! (A group of us run in the mornings at conferences. More info about our NOLA run coming soon!)

    And now I'm curious - what are your plans before and after the meeting? Are you arriving early to explore New Orleans? Staying a little longer for a walking tour, live music, or maybe just one more beignet? 😉

    I'm arriving Sunday late morning and have to head out late Wednesday.

    I've been to New Orleans several times and my son and daughter did 8th grade class trips to New Orleans. Some recommendations:

    • World War II Museum - it is the best WWII museum in the country. Why New Orleans? It was the production center for Higgins boats, which were crucial for amphibious landings during the war.
    • Steamboat Natchez - https://www.steamboatnatchez.com/
    • Beignets
    • Aquarium -  Audubon Aquarium of the Americas - https://audubonnatureinstitute.org/aquarium
    • Airboat swamp tour to see crocodiles

    Michele, great suggestions. As a native Louisianan, to find a good restaurant in NOLA, leave the hotel and throw a rock in any direction. It will most likely hit a great place. I love NOLA and look forward to seeing my tribe thrive!

    someone else mentioned this.  The National WWII museum is fantastic.  I've been about 4 times and intend to go there again on Sunday the day before the conference starts,  It's on magazine street in the Garden district maybe 8-10 blocks from the In2Risk Marriott.  Don't miss it

    Hi, Michele,

    Looking forward to catching up and running in NOLA.  I'll be arriving Sunday and flying out on Thursday.  Thanks for the link.  This will be my third or fourth time visiting NOLA, so on this trip, I'll be heading out to the Whitney Plantation based on a colleague's recommendation.  Of course, I'll be with CPCUs on the Run and the Riverboat dinner.
