PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Interest Group Governors Committee strengthens member recruitment and retention at the interest group level. The committee is responsible for oversight of an assigned set of interest groups and the development of its leaders.

DELIVERABLES AND ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Supports growth of interest groups in strategic, operational, succession and transition planning;
  • Encourages networking and facilitates collaboration across interest groups and interest group leadership;
  • Raises awareness of existing formal and informal barriers to interest group success within the Society and makes recommendation to the Leadership Council;
  • Liaises with chapter leadership to foster, strengthen and enhance two-way communications;
  • Manages and recommends modifications to the configuration of the Society’s interest groups;
  • Provides feedback, information and support to staff liaison.
  • The Interest Group Governors Committee is accountable to the Leadership Council; a member of the Leadership Council is appointed as committee liaison;
  • Interest Group Governors are required to attend interest group chair meetings and are encouraged to meet within their assigned interest group committees regularly;
  • Committee members meet virtually at least four times per year and in person at In2Risk and Leadership Summit;

TERMS:

Each Interest Group Governor on the Interest Group Governors Committee serves a three (3) year term. At the discretion of the nominating committee, a member may have the option to maintain this position for one (1) additional term of three (3) years, if all responsibilities have been met and s/he fulfills the needs of the Interest Group Governors Committee.  No member may serve more than two (2) terms or six (6) years.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An active CPCU Society member;
  • Interest to serve on the Interest Group Governors Committee;
  • Has extensive interest group service;
  • Interest in contributing strategically on member-facing initiatives;
  • Desire to recruit and retain members;
  • Desire to  coach interest group leadership on member-facing initiatives and personal growth;
  • Must be able to self-fund attendance and registration at the Leadership Summit and In2Risk meetings;
  • Ability to work independently, in a group and virtually to complete deliverables as required by the Society.
